Beschreibung
Organization: The lecture is held in a hybrid way. Both participation in the classroom and online will be possible. Meetings are broadcasted live with the help of zoom. Further information about the exact number of students who can be present in the lecture hall will be provided at least one week before the semester starts.Content: The lecture presents state-of-the-art macroeconomic models based on micro-founded methods of dynamic optimization and pricing, related to Calvo pricing and the Phillips-curve. Together with the derivation of an optimal Taylor rule, this results in a dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model (DSGE). The relevance of supply-side shocks (real business cycles) and time inconsistency is placed alongside those of the demand side and the money market. The model components are discussed critically on the basis of interactively generated experimental findings, contrasted with behaviorally-oriented approaches (hybrid New Keynesian model). The requirements for central bank policy resulting from the model are presented and the instruments and procedures for the allocation of central bank money are shown. Theories of interest rates and interest rate structures are used to understand the transmission mechanisms of central bank policy. The causes of misjudgments and financial crises are dealt with.
