Zahlreiche Untersuchungen zeigen, dass Management, Personal und Information Einfluss auf so zentrale unternehmerische Kenngrößen wie Mitarbeiter-Fluktuation, Gewinn und Umsatz haben und so nachhaltige Wettbewerbsvorteile für das Unternehmen schaffen können.
Ziel des Lehrprogramms ist die Hervorhebung der Bedeutung und Wichtigkeit von Managementfähigkeiten, das Kennenlernen grundlegender Managementfähigkeiten, die Erläuterung des Zusammenwirkens zwischen Strategie und Human Ressourcen Management, empirische Erkenntnisse zum Verhalten in und zur Gestaltung von Organisationen sowie der Einfluss der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologie auf das Management von Unternehmen.

Beschreibung
Sustainability and sustainable development are central to our society, business and personal life. This course aims at presenting a view on these areas at the macro (A) and micro (B) level. The course is taught in cooperation with Prof. L.S. Ganesh and Prof. V. Viayalakshmi (both IIT Madras). Contents are:
A. Macro level
The fundamental mandate in Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4: Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning) is the foundation of this set of lectures offered in the course. This set of lectures attempts to provide students with a systems perspective on Sustainability, its varied definitions, limitations, feasibility, challenges and opportunities.
1. Early stages of recognition of Sustainability as a global issue; Agenda 21 and The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – Knowing that the journey is very long and arduous.
2. Leading on to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); 2030 is around the corner; Where are we now? Developed, Developing and under-Developed Countries – a Comparison of Sustainability status.
3. Elkington’s Tiple Bottom Line; the Social, Environmental and Economic dimensions characterizing Sustainability; Development dilemmas; Citizens, Businesses and Governments and their Sustainability concerns.
4. The basic triangle of Science, Engineering and Technology and its effects on Human Society and the Natural Environment.
5. Human and Business transactions and the concept of Value; Existential, Experiential and Economic dimensions characterizing Value in products and services.
6. Product life cycles; stages and market implications; Sustainability issues across product life cycles.
7. Principles of Sustainability practices – Refuse, Reduce, Repair and Restore, Reuse, and Recycle; Sustainability indicators – The Triple Bottom Line revisited.
8. Sustainability Challenges and Opportunities; Carbon Footprint; Chasing a Mirage?
9. Information Systems for integration of communities.
10. Individual and Small group practices for Circular Economy.

B. Micro Level
The second part focuses on sustainable development on the micro level. Work is one of the central points in our existence. There is a need to make this as fulfilling and meaningful as possible. This part is intended to unravel and develop capacities, nurture deep relationships, create opportunities for fulfilling work, and inspire the same in others, thus leading to sustainable well-being.
