All study programmes at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics of the University of Passau require students to submit a Bachelor's or Master's thesis depending on their chosen course of study. More information on this subject is contained in the exam regulations (click on the link on the right-hand side of this page).
By writing a thesis, students demonstrate they are able to work through all aspects of a given problem within a defined period by themselves while applying basic principles of research.
You are also welcome to propose a topic for your thesis in your letter of application.
The timeline is as follows:
Following an initial meeting with your supervisor, including discussion of the topic, you will have approximately two to three weeks (for a Bachelor’s thesis) or three weeks (for a Master’s thesis) to familiarise yourself with the literature. The thesis is then registered (registration date) and the eight-week (Bachelor’s thesis) or four-month (Master’s thesis) writing period begins.
You can choose whether to start at the beginning of the semester or during the semester break.
Around the middle of the writing period, there is an interim presentation for which 1 ECTS (Bachelor’s) or 2 ECTS (Master’s) are awarded. Please refer to courses 30080 (Bachelor’s Colloquium) or 30090 (Master’s Colloquium) for the dates.
Application deadline at the Chair: 31 January
Application deadline at the Chair: 31 July
Once the deadline has expired we will send an e-mail informing you whether you have been assigned a supervisor. Should you wish to withdraw your application once your supervisor has been confirmed, please do so at your earliest convenience.
