Scientific competition is an important element of academic careers — whether for publications, research funding, reputation, or young talent. But how strongly is this competition actually perceived? And how do these experiences differ across disciplines, countries, or career stages?
In this Bachelor seminar, you will analyze survey data from researchers in various fields in the USA, Germany, and Switzerland. The focus will be on disciplinary differences and cross-country comparisons.
The seminar offers you the opportunity to develop and explore your own research questions through empirical analysis. It will also help you strengthen your skills in academic writing and data analysis and prepare you for your Bachelor thesis.
Further information on the seminar topic can be found here.
Applications for the Bachelor seminar are open from June 30 to July 7, 2025.
Please send your application as a single PDF file (including your CV, an up-to-date transcript of records from your Bachelor studies, and a short statement explaining your interest in the seminar) to: charlotte.musso@uni-passau.de.
