Electric mobility: project PREMIUM finds out what car buyers want
It is the car buyers who decide whether electric vehicles are a success. In this research project, a team from the University of Passau will analyse the behaviour of electric vehicle users to identify criteria for the acceptance of electronic and plug-in-hybrid vehicles.
Various types of electric drives are already on the market today. But which drive concept is most suitable in each case, considering a customer’s individual usage, charging infrastructure and charging times, battery costs, consumption and emissions? And how can these parameters be optimally adapted to the customers’ needs? The PREMIUM research project (the full title is ‘Plug-In, Range-Extenders and Electric Vehicles under realistic Mobility conditions: Infrastructure, Environmental Factors and Product Acceptance’) will provide answers to these questions with the help of a large-scale field study.
A consortium of industrial and academic partners is working on the project under guidance of BMW AG. This consortium project is supported by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB).
