Yao is a doctoral student and research associate at the Chair of International Management and Social Entrepreneurship. She received her master’s degree in Business Administration (M.Sc.) from Passau University. Her master’s thesis was to investigate the impact of climate change disclosure transparency on corporate social and environmental performance, focusing on German firms.

Prior to her postgraduate studies, Yao attained double bachelor degrees from Shanghai University (BMgmt) and University of Technology, Sydney (BBus). After finishing her bachelor study, Yao has gathered several years of professional working experience as an auditor at EY and KPMG in China.  Additionally, Yao achieved a high level of proficiency in the German language (TestDaF 17) through intensive language courses at both the Goethe-Institut and Tongji University.
