Content: In this module, students acquire in-depth knowledge in the field of international economics in relation to issues of globalization and sustainability. This includes in particular the phenomenon of the “globalization backlash” and its analysis in the International Economics literature. Issues addressed include the populist aversion to trade liberalization, questions of the (lack of) sustainability of international production processes, cost minimization through “unethical” globalization profits, NGO campaigns, consumer boycotts and NGO protests against trade.
