Jin Gerlach is Professor of Information Systems at the University of Passau. He has a PhD in Information Systems from the Technical University of Darmstadt. In his teaching, his goal is to educate students to become professionally and personally enlightened actors who can competently meet the challenges of our digital society.
In his research, Jin Gerlach is concerned with technology-related change in organizations, in everyday life of individuals, and in society. His current work focuses on the implications of using AI for organizational knowledge and learning processes. Thereby, he collaborates with internationally leading scholars (e.g., Don Lange, Arizona State University; Ning Nan, University of British Columbia; Jerry Kane, University of Georgia; Tamara Dinev, Florida Atlantic University; Ron Cenfetelli, University of British Columbia).
His research gets funded, for example, through the German Research Foundation (DFG) and appears in leading academic journals (e.g., MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of the Association for Information Systems). Jin Gerlach also serves as reviewer for top journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Academy of Management Review, and many more.
Jin Gerlach's work is influenced by his passion for music as a singer, songwriter, guitarist, keyboarder, and composer of several bands, combos, and musicals (genres: rock, pop, jazz, and others). Like in music, his work as an academic builds on similar core principles such as mutual listening, creativity, and teamwork to make an original contribution.
