Center for Digital Business Transformation is launched
The Center for Digital Business Transformation (C4DBT) at the University of Passau in cooperation with a big internationally operating automotive supplier purposes the research of economic options for action and design of digitally networked products and value-added processes while focussing an "Industrie 4.0". The digital transformation of traditional industries is the central challenge of our time. However, companies, customers and suppliers are subject to considerable changes. The systematic investigation of these changes and risks is to be done in a close cooperation of three economic chairs and one computer science chair of the University of Passau within a common Center for Digital Business Transformation. The economically relevant implications of the digital transformation of industrial enterprises and their products and services as well as the development and evaluation of concrete Use Cases are the main research objects. The analysis of the technological and data-centered feasibility of these Use Cases while considering the latest developments in the area of data analysis and data visualisation is part of this work. The object of the Center for Digital Business Transformation is the elaboration of practically relevant and scientifically based results regarding digital business model developments of industrial companies in the course of digital transformation. The research team consists of five doctoral students from different chairs which are focussing on Accounting and Control (Prof. Dr. Robert Obermaier), Marketing and Services (Prof. Dr. Dirk Totzek), Marketing and Innovation (Prof. Dr. Jan Schumann), and Data Science (Prof. Dr. Michael Granitzer). In so doing, a high degree of interdisciplinary can be guaranteed and a full illumination of the topic can be done. The C4DBT is a common project of Professor Granitzer, Schumann, and Totzek. It is coordinated and led by Professor Obermaier.
