Corporate Governance and Auditing – PwC's ‘Auditing’ lecture series

| Reading time: 1 min.

During the 2025/26 winter semester, the Corporate Governance and Auditing course was regularly supplemented by practice-oriented lectures from PwC. Under the direction of Kerstin Krauß (WP, StB and partner) and Patrick Konhäuser (WP, StB and director) of the PwC Assurance Solutions platform, PwC employees gave students an insight into the profession of auditor and the process of an annual audit.

The IDW auditing standards and International Standards on Auditing were presented as principles for auditing financial statements, with a focus on their implementation in practice. This gave students insights into how the risk-oriented audit approach is implemented in a Big Four auditing firm. Against the backdrop of the current geopolitical situation, the approach and responsibilities of auditors in times of economic uncertainty and companies in crisis were also examined. Case studies and exercises allowed students to apply the knowledge they had acquired.

The speakers from PwC also provided insights into the use of digital tools and artificial intelligence and presented the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation for auditing. Experts from PwC's Risk & Regulatory division gave a guest lecture on the auditing of IT systems and the assessment of cybersecurity risks. In addition, a PwC employee from the Sustainability division provided insights into the regulation of sustainability reporting and the auditing of sustainability reports.
