Small solar kits - substantial effect
Randomized controlled trial shows that the distribution of small solar kits can have substantial welfare effects in areas that lack access to grid electricity.
This is good news as more than 1.3 billion people in developing countries are lacking access to electricity. For more details see the new IZA working paper by Michael Grimm, Anicet Munyehirwe (IB&C Rwanda), Jörg Peters and Maximiliane Sievert (both RWI Essen). This paper is part of a larger project undertaken jointly by the RWI Essen, the Erasmus University Rotterdam and the University of Passau.
