The course is jointly hold by the chairs of Statistics and Data Analytics (Prof. Dr. Harry Haupt), Marketing and Services (Prof. Dr. Dirk Totzek), Management Science/Operations and Supply Chain Management (Prof. Dr. Alena Otto) and the Computational Statistics and Mathematics Teaching Unit (Dr. Joachim Schnurbus) and covers the following four subject areas:
1) Fundamentals of Mathematics (e.g. Calculus, Linear Algebra)
2) Fundamentals of Statistics (e.g. Regression modeling, Test theory)
3) Fundamentals of Management Science (e.g. Algorithms, Linear Programming)
4) Fundamentals of Empirical Research Methods (e.g. Data Collection methods, Hypothesis Testing)
The teaching format will be an online block course of four weeks, starting from the 11th of October 2021. The aim of the course is to equip students with a solid mathematical and analytical knowledge to successfully study questions and address challenges in the field of modern digital Management, like Data Analytics or Data-Driven Decision Making. The course prepares students for advanced courses in the field of data literacy offered in the Master’s program. The course language will be English.
