Irene Furlani, PhD student in the Research Training Group DPE and, Michael Grimm (PI in DPE) organized jointly with colleagues from the University of Gadjah Mada a workshop to kick-off a new project based on introducing Lentera Desa, an agricultural knowledge platform, into extension services. The project makes use of a two-sided randomized controlled trial targeted at extension workers and Millennial Farmers in the greater region of Yogyakarta. The trial shall help to identify cost-effective solutions to render small scale farming more sustainable with digital platform services.
The workshop gathered academics, representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, especially the Board of Extension Services, extension workers and farmers. Baseline data for the experiment has been collected in February and March 2025. The randomized interventions will be implemented in May and June 2025. A follow-up survey later this year will allow to estimate the first impacts.
