Participation and Presentation at WI 2026 in Linz

In September, Adrian Hofbauer attended the 21st International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI 2026) at Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria. In the track "Human-Centered Information Systems & Social Computing," he presented the paper "How Justification Explanation Design and Domain Knowledge Shape Users' Cognitive Load and Trust in LLM-Based AI Assistants", co-authored with Prof. Dr. Ulrich Gnewuch. Using a custom-built RAG-based AI assistant, the study examines in an online experiment how the design of explanations affects users' cognitive load and trust, and what role their domain-specific prior knowledge plays. Realistic tasks from German income tax law served as the application context.

The paper grew out of Adrian Hofbauer's master's thesis. He has been a doctoral researcher at the chair since March 2026.
