This week, Ana-Maria Sîrbu presented our paper, "Explanation Provision Strategies in LLM-based Data Assistants: Impact on Extraneous Cognitive Load, Trust, and Task Performance" co-authored with Till Carlo Schelhorn and Prof. Dr. Ulrich Gnewuch at the 33rd European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS 2025). The paper advances research on explainability in large language models from a user-centric perspective by investigating two mechanisms for delivering explanations—automatic vs. user-invoked—and their impact on users' cognitive load, trust, and task performance. This research is part of a project funded by the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt).
