Girls’ Day 2026 at the University of Passau: Information Systems inspires schoolgirls to explore digital technologies

| Reading time: 1 min.

As part of the national Girls’ Day initiative, schoolgirls had the opportunity to explore career paths in fields where women are still underrepresented, particularly in skilled trades, technology, IT, and the natural sciences. The University of Passau also took part with a range of exciting activities, including a workshop offered by female doctoral researchers in Information Systems entitled:

“How digital technologies are changing our everyday lives: ChatGPT, TikTok & Co.”

Led by Viktoria Feyerherd, Kira Fink, Sonja Herrmann, Sarah Ben Messaoud, Hanna Roider, and Ana-Maria Sîrbu, ten schoolgirls explored how modern technologies shape our everyday lives. From artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT to social media platforms such as TikTok, the girls gained hands-on insights and discussed both the opportunities and challenges of digitalization.

The workshop generated lively interest and showed just how exciting and diverse the field of Information Systems can be. It was a successful contribution to encouraging girls to consider careers in IT and to making female role models in academia more visible.

We would like to thank everyone involved for their commitment and look forward to the next Girls’ Day!
