Description:
The application of operations research tools in health care policies is anything but a novelty. Since decades, operations research methods help forecasting the required capacity of healthcare services, available hospital beds and medical supplies and provide policy makers with valuable solutions for the funding, organization and distribution new drugs and medical technologies.
Despite the growing catalogue of operations planning and scheduling algorithms for health care applications and the growing body of literature on medical policy analysis, the global COVID-19 pandemic underlined the importance of good planning strategies in order to guarantee for the best responsiveness of public health services face to an unexpected medical crisis.
In this seminar, you will get an overview on the state of art of Management Science in health care applications, and also keep an eye on the most recent scientific publications in that field addressing specifically the main points of actions of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The language of the seminar is English. The course participants are invited to gain deep understanding of their research topic by preparing a seminar paper and presenting their findings in the final workshop of the course. All the topics will be processed in groups of two or three students. Depending on the preferences of the group, it is possible to formulate individual subtopics of the common group topic.
