The prototyping course of the DTE was predominantly focusing on developing a working prototype of our product. With the help of the course, we learnt to develop different fidelities of prototypes of our product. We also learnt which type of prototype would be suitable for a better presentation of our product to investors or other future stakeholders. Moreover, the course also provided us with various technological tools and knowledge about building prototypes and testing them with real customers in order to recognize apparent flaws and misconceptions.
For us, the prototyping course was very helpful, especially as our idea consists of two major parts which need to work together. Throughout the course, we have got constructive feedback about how to build an inexpensive but working and informative prototype of our physical product "the digital planting pot".
For our second part of the idea, we have started with designing a middle fidelity prototype (Mockup) of our application. With the guidance we got from the course, it was easy to find the right tools to develop different fidelities of prototypes. After analyzing our Mockup application, we got a better understanding of our product. With the significant feedback we received on our Mockup application, we stepped up the fidelity of our prototype and developed a high-fidelity prototype using a software tool called Adobe XD. It has provided us with greater insight into our target customers and their way of interaction with the application.
During the course with the guidance we got behind the prototyping process, it was a lot of fun working on our two prototypes and watching our idea transforming into a real product. The process wasn't always easy, but it was worth it. We would like to thank Stefanie Urchs and Sahaya Kulandaisamy for this interesting course but also thanks to the whole team behind the DTE for this amazing experience.
