Brown bag seminar - Recent developments in data science
The brown bag seminar serves as a platform for exchange and constructive discussions on a full variety of topics around data science from first research ideas up to already published research results. It welcomes methodological talks and talks on innovative applications of quantitative methods alike. The areas of applications include, but are not limited to, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Operations Management, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management.
The moderated talks of the brown bag seminar are predominantly organized around the following subject areas:
- Expert classes:
Talks on recent advances in the design and application of quantitative methods provided by invited scientists, who are experts in their field.
- Impulses from managers:
Talks from practitioners about case studies for the planned or actual applications of quantitative methods. These talks provide insights into the (expected) impact of quantitative methods in practice and highlight encountered challenges and lessons learned. They also suggest most important future research directions on quantitative methods from a managerial point of view.
- Intensive ideation workshops:
Doctoral students (or further workshop participants) present their current research to collect an intensive feedback as well as impulses and ideas for further steps.
