From January 22 to 27, our practice partner, colleague and friend Professor Edward Carroll, the Director and Founder of The Center for Advanced Musical Studies at Chosen Vale and his son and advisor Christopher visited our beautiful city and spent a great time in Passau. Their visit reached its climax with the final presentations of our bachelor seminar “Problem solving and Communication in Management.”
This semester’s task of the seminar was to develop an innovative long-term strategy that helps Prof. Carroll and his team to manage Chosen Vale’s challenges in an economically feasible way. After the first decade of successful seminars, fundamental questions about the future strategy of Chosen Vale arose. Should Chosen Vale just stay as it is and exploit its respected reputation to do what it does, just better? Or should Chosen Vale explore new shores, for instance by globalizing into other countries, expanding its portfolio, or even become an alternative to the established institutions in performing arts education? And if the desire was to grow into these new territories, how could Edward Carroll and Chosen Vale implement these goals? The Chair’s team and Edward and Christopher Carroll were thrilled by the marvelous ideas and strategy concepts which the seminar participants presented in an astonishingly professional way. The final presentations were the grand finale of three months of intense analysis, idea creation, detailed elaboration of a strategy concept and optimization of the communication process.
