Many people dream of starting their own business but lack one crucial ingredient: the compelling idea. As these compelling ideas seldom come out of the blue, faculty of the certificate programes “Digital Technology and Entrepreneurship” organized together with mymuesli co-founder Max Wittrock the first Ideation Weekend from 7th December 2018 to 9th December 2018.
Forty students, organized in teams, started on Friday with generating ideas using various creativity techniques. On Saturday, the teams structured their ideas using the so-called Value Proposition Canvas. They also prepared a short questionaire and received a first feedback from potential customers. On Sunday, the teams learned how to pitch their ideas properly to potential investors and finally did so by presenting their ideas to a jury of faculty and practitioners. Thus, within a short period of time, the teams developed promising start-up ideas. While the participating faculty provided the research background for the Ideation Weekend, Max Wittrock shared plenty of his valuable experience and numerous concrete do’s and don’ts.
"We were very impressed by the number and diversity of good ideas that were developped during the weekend”, said Fabian Hans, research associate at the Chair of Organisation, Technology Management and Entrepreneurship. The next step for the teams? With the “Honours Degree in Digital Technology and Entrepreneurship”, they have the opportunity to further advance their business ideas by developing a validated prototype and a first business plan.
