During the academic ceremony on October 10, 2025, our former doctoral candidate Dr. Hendrike Werwigk and our former external doctoral candidate Dr. Steffen Klug (not present) were not only presented with their doctoral certificates, but were also awarded the Helmut Schmalen Prize.
The Helmut Schmalen Prize is awarded for outstanding dissertations produced by the Faculty of Economics. To be eligible for the award, the dissertation must have been graded “summa cum laude” or the doctoral project must have been completed with a grade of 1.0. Our former doctoral candidates Hendrike Werwigk and Steffen Klug have fulfilled these requirements, and we are proud to announce that they have received this award.
Dr. Werwigk will remain with our department as an assistant professor.
