The workshop brought together leading experts, scholars, and practitioners in the fields of ecology, economics, strategic management, sustainable development and natural resource management. The event was attended by six representatives from Ukraine, including directors of national nature parks and heads of scientific departments, and three members of the University of Passau: PICAIS Fellow Prof. Dr. Alina Kasinska, who organized and hosted the event, and Prof. Dr. Andres König (both Chair of Strategic Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship), as well as Prof. Dr. Christine Schmitt (Chair of Physical Geography). In addition, 23 participants from Ukraine and other countries joined via Zoom.
Key topics discussed during the seminar included
- Strategies for the natural parks’ adaptation to the military conflict;
- Assessing the impact of military actions on ecosystems and biodiversity;
- Approaches to restoration and development of affected natural areas.
Participants presented their institutions and shared their knowledge and experience in this critical area. Their participation and contributions will be valuable in developing effective strategies for adaptation and restoration of Nature parks.
