The two certificate programs provide targeted support for students and doctoral candidates with the intention of founding a company. The programs are designed to help participants to develop (digital) business ideas, define digital business models and put them into practice. Both programs can be completed in addition to and parallel to the actual studies or doctorate program and are funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and Arts as part of the Center for Digitization.Bavaria (ZD.B). In addition, the programs are flanked by the DTE Community, which brings together participants from both programs and promotes their exchange and joint activities.
The DTE program has successfully developed into a "university-wide platform that promotes cross-faculty exchange and innovation", summarizes Carolin Häussler. Around 150 students from all faculties participate in the certificate programs each year, and between 800 and 1,000 students benefit from the associated events. Not only have around 80 students already successfully completed the "Honours Degree", but a number of start-ups have also emerged from it in the meantime, launching smart sportswear, sensor-supported beehives or a configurator for smart homes, among other things.
We are very happy about this award, because it is the result of a great, cross-disciplinary collaboration. At the same time, it is of course also an incentive for us to continue working together with the students in the future on the development of creative ideas and their implementation.
