The paper entitled “A First Step up the Energy Ladder: Low Cost Solar Kits and Household’s Welfare in Rural Rwanda” by Michael Grimm, Anicet Munyehirwe, Jörg Peters and Maximiliane Sievert has won the USAEE/IAEE 2014 Best Paper Award. The paper was deemed the "best that came into our USAEE/IAEE working paper series in 2014 based on its contribution to the literature, scholarship and originality. It was selected among more than 200 submitted papers.

Both organisations are the world leading academic organisations in the area of energy economics.
