Information for exchange students
Dear exchange students, welcome to Passau!

In addition to cultural exchange, the School of Business, Economics and Information Systems in Passau offers you studies at the highest academic level. It is one of the youngest, most innovative and dynamic faculties in the German-speaking region.
We have compiled the most important information about your studies with us below.
The International Office will assist you with the organization of your studies in Passau. Here you will find, among other things, help and advice on application and enrolment and finding accommodation. To help you get started in university life, the International Office also offers orientation weeks for international students before the start of your studies, which, among other things, give you the opportunity to network with other international students. There is also the possibility to participate in a buddy scheme with German students.
At this point, we would like to draw special attention to the buddy scheme of the International Office. Passau students help with the start into (study) life in Passau and clarify questions about everyday student life. Please register for the mentor program before your arrival in Passau.

Registration for examinations conducted by the Language Center or other faculties does not take place at the Dean's Office of the School of Business, Economics and Information Systems, but at the respective institution.
We are aware that studying at the University of Passau presents exchange students with special challenges in their new environment. The School of Business, Economics and Information Systems offers exchange students the possibility of a separate performance review in some subjects:
- Exchange students attend the regular course.
- When registering for exams, exchange students can opt for a special exam that takes into account their language skills.
- Registration for these special exams is done through the Dean's Office of the School of Business, Economics and Information Systems.
Exchange students must inquire before registering for the examination whether the examination performance is recognized by their home university. The transcript of records will indicate the performance that was taken. The information letter "Special examinations for exchange students" informs the home university about the examination modalities for special examinations and can be attached to the application for recognition of the examination performance.
The special examination cannot be included in the regular Passau study programs. Therefore, the special examination is intended exclusively for students from abroad who are studying at the University of Passau as part of an exchange program and not for foreign students who are earning a regular degree in Passau.
This restriction also applies to students studying at the University of Passau in the course of a double degree program (e.g. double master program with Corvinus University Budapest). To ensure an equivalent degree, the regular examination conditions apply.
Example for the lecture "Marketing" in the Bachelor program:
There is a regular exam "Marketing" as well as an additional special exam "Marketing for Exchange Students". Exchange students must indicate which of the two examinations they would like to take when registering for the examination. When taking the special exam in Marketing, "Marketing for Exchange Students" will be noted on the Transcript of Records.
We offer the possibility for special examinations in the Bachelor as well as in the Master. Here you will find the current overview of courses with optional special examinations. Please inform your examiners at the beginning of the semester if you would like to take a special exam.
