The Chair of Development Economics of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, University of Passau, invites applications for a temporary teaching appointment* ('Lehrauftrag') for the following course, to be taught in summer semester (April to July) 2016:
Growth and Development
(taught in the final year of the B.Sc. Business Administration and Economics programme)
The course will be entirely taught in English and comprise 28 hours of lectures, spread out over the course of 14 weeks at two hours per week, although it may be possible to arrange for the course to be taught in two or three block sessions. Staff for an additional tutorial accompanying the lecture will be on hand. The assignment shall include the design and marking of a 90-minute written examination. Assistance for the marking will be available. Course materials from previous years may be shared. The course is usually attended by approximately 80 students.
Candidates are expected to have a doctoral degree in Economics and to have expertise in the field of Development Economics, proven by a track record of relevant articles published in internationally-recognised academic journals.

*Temporary teaching appointments at the University of Passau are remunerated per teaching hour in accordance with the pertinent regulations. You will be employed on a self-employed basis. As a contractor, you are responsible for arranging your own insurance and tax affairs. This appointment shall not be construed as an employment relationship subject to German social security laws and regulations ('sozialversicherungspflichtiges Arbeitsverhältnis'). The University wishes to make it clear, therefore, that based on this contract, you will not draw a fixed monthly salary and no social security contributions will be made on your behalf.
